Approaching Women Got Easier When I Stopped Judging Myself

Before I even said a word, I was already tearing myself apart:

  • “You’re going to sound awkward.”
  • “She’s out of your league.”
  • “Everyone can see how nervous you are.”
  • “Why would she even want to talk to you?”

And that was before I approached.

Self-judgment was my biggest barrier—not rejection, not women, not even fear.

It was the constant stream of negative self-talk that drained my confidence before I even took a step.

Once I learned how to stop judging myself in the moment, approaching got 10x easier—and way more enjoyable.

Here’s how.

😣 How Self-Judgment Feeds Approach Anxiety

Self-judgment keeps you in a loop:

  1. You feel the desire to approach
  2. You start judging your own thoughts
  3. You imagine failure before it happens
  4. You freeze or hesitate
  5. You beat yourself up for not acting
  6. Repeat

This isn't just mental.
It shows in your body language, voice, and energy.

And women can feel it.
Not because you’re “bad”—but because you’re not present.

🧠 Why Judgment Doesn’t Make You Better

A lot of guys think judging themselves will push them to improve.

“I need to be hard on myself.”
“If I don’t criticize, I’ll never change.”
“Tough love works, right?”

But here’s the truth:

Shame is not a strategy.

Judgment doesn’t help you grow.
It just makes you scared to try.

💡 What Helped Me Drop the Self-Criticism

I didn’t magically become self-loving overnight.
But I started using a few tools that helped shift how I treated myself during and after approaches:

✅ 1. I Treated Every Approach Like Practice

I told myself:

“This is just a rep. It doesn’t have to be amazing.”

This lowered the pressure.
I didn’t need to be perfect—I just needed to show up.

💬 2. I Used Friendly Self-Talk

Right before approaching, I’d quietly say:

“Let’s just have fun.”
“You got this.”
“She’s a person. You’re a person. Just say hi.”

It felt awkward at first, but it worked.
Over time, my internal tone became lighter, less harsh.

🧍‍♂️ 3. I Noticed the Judgment—Without Believing It

Thought:

“She’s going to reject you.”

New response:

“Maybe. But I’ll survive. Let’s see what happens.”

I stopped arguing with the voice. I just didn’t take it so seriously anymore.

📓 4. I Reviewed My Wins—Even the Small Ones

After each outing, I’d note:

  • “I approached 3 women today.”
  • “One smiled. One wasn’t interested. One said she had a boyfriend.”
  • “I kept my composure. I stayed present.”

That reinforced action > outcome.

🔄 What Changed When I Dropped Judgment

  • I approached more consistently
  • I felt lighter—even when it didn’t go perfectly
  • I recovered faster from awkward moments
  • I actually enjoyed talking to women again

Because I wasn’t fighting myself anymore.

When you stop beating yourself up, you free up energy to just connect.

And that’s what women respond to most—your ability to relax, be real, and be with them.

🎯 Don’t Be Your Own Bully

You don’t need to be harder on yourself.
You need to be on your own team.

You wouldn’t tell a friend:

“You suck. Don’t even try.”

So stop saying that to yourself.

Approach anxiety fades when self-compassion grows.

Because once you stop tearing yourself down,
you can finally stand tall and lead the moment.
