You go out.
You talk to people.
You even make a joke that sort of lands.
And yet…
Your brain kicks in with the post-game roast:
“You were too quiet.”
“She looked bored.”
“You sounded weird.”
Even when it goes okay, you still feel like you blew it.
Here’s what’s happening: you’re punishing progress instead of celebrating it.
Let’s fix that.
But discomfort = growth. And your brain needs a new scoreboard.
“I showed up.”
“I spoke up.”
“I stayed in the convo 2 minutes longer than usual.”
Progress lives in what you did—not what happened.
Critic: “You sounded awkward.”
Coach: “You stayed in it. That was brave. Let’s try again tomorrow.”
Same moment—different mindset.
Instead of:
“What went wrong?”
Ask:
This keeps momentum without shame.
Every day:
It’ll retrain your brain to see the wins it usually ignores.
Next time you talk to someone:
This builds emotional muscle faster than any script.
If it feels awkward, that’s not a red flag—it’s a green light.
You’re not falling behind. You’re just getting stronger. One brave moment at a time.
