🗯️ Scared to Speak? Here’s How to Speak Up Anyway

You know what you want to say.
Your heart is racing. Your hands are sweating.
And just as you’re about to open your mouth…

You freeze.
You downplay it.
You say nothing.

Sound familiar?

Being nervous doesn’t mean you’re not ready.
It just means your nervous system needs support—not silence.

Let’s train your body and your voice to work with you, not against you.

🧠 Why Speaking Up Feels So Scary

Your brain thinks:

  • “What if they judge me?”
  • “What if I sound stupid?”
  • “What if I make it worse?”

So it shuts down. Or overtalks. Or plays small.

But here’s the truth:
You don’t need to feel confident to speak.
You need to speak—to build confidence.

🔑 How to Speak Up—Even When You’re Nervous

1. Use the 3-Second Rule

If you want to say something, do it within 3 seconds.

“Excuse me—can I say something about that?”
“Quick thought on that…”
“Actually, I have a different take.”

No overthinking. Just action.

2. Anchor Your Body

Before speaking:

  • Plant your feet
  • Breathe into your belly
  • Relax your jaw and shoulders

Grounded body = grounded voice.

3. Start With a Buffer Line (If Needed)

“This might sound bold, but…”
“I’ve been thinking about this and wanted to share…”

Buffer lines help you ease in—then bring the fire.

4. Celebrate Afterward—No Matter What

You spoke up? That’s the win.

Even if it was shaky. Even if your voice cracked.
You did it. That’s confidence in action.
