You start strong.
The opener lands, she smiles, and you're thinking, “Okay, this might go somewhere.”
Then… 10 minutes later, you're both sipping your drinks in silence, scanning the room like it’s a fire drill. 🥴
What happened?
As a Canadian dating coach for men, I hear this all the time:
“I can start conversations… I just don’t know how to keep them going.”
The problem usually isn’t your opener—
It’s what happens after the first few lines.
Let’s fix that.
You know the ones:
These questions don’t build connection—they gather data.
And unless you’re a customs agent, that’s not helping your cause.
Fix it: Ask questions that invite imagination, emotion, or opinion.
Try: “What’s something totally random that makes you happy?” or “If money didn’t matter, what would you do with your time?”
Most guys filter everything they say to avoid offending, messing up, or looking dumb.
The result?
A conversation so safe it puts her emotional system to sleep.
Fix it: Be playful. Tease her gently. Say something bold. Share a weird opinion.
Being slightly unpredictable is way more attractive than being “perfect.”
If you’re slouched, closed off, or shifting around nervously, it’s hard for her to relax.
Your non-verbal signals say more than your carefully chosen words ever will.
Fix it: Stand or sit with confident posture, slow your movements, and lean in when it matters.
Hold eye contact. Smile like you mean it.
Great conversations flow—they don’t feel like back-and-forth trivia.
Fix it: When she shares something, go deeper. Ask why. Relate it to your own experience. Build off her answers instead of switching topics.
If your conversations keep falling flat, you’re not doomed—you’re just stuck in safe-mode.
Real chemistry comes from connection, tension, and fun—not information exchange.
Learn to speak her emotional language, and your conversations won’t just last longer—they’ll actually go somewhere.
